Harley Quinn from the Birds of Prey movie was the first not-for-Halloween-purposes costume I’ve ever created – so I guess you could say it was my first official cosplay! I’ve always loved Harley’s character since the 2016 release of Suicide Squad, but my love for her was taken to a new level when I saw Birds of Prey. I was (and still am) obsessed with Michelle Uberreste’s vinyl / confetti / caution tape jacket. Since I couldn’t afford to commission the jacket from the designer herself, I figured I would give it a go!
Check out my YouTube tutorial below to see how you can make the jacket too! (These are my first YouTube videos where I actually spoke – so please note I’ve gotten less awkward on camera since then!!)
Here are a few shots from the photoshoot I had with Bob Plant Photography. Funny backstory on this one… this was my first time ever working with a professional photographer, and a cosplay specific photographer at that! I had originally planned to have my cousin shoot some photos on an old DSLR camera I had. We got to the location and ran into Bob who happened to be looking for a subject to shoot that day – small world!

I also put together tutorials showing how I made the wig, tattoos, and did makeup…
And another for the rest of her outfit (shorts, top, accessories, and shoes)…
